Welcome to Year 2 - Miss Brown & Mrs Collins

January & February

During January and February we have been working very hard in all subjects. These are a few of our favourite things......

We have continued using our story maps to help us create of very own stories. We memorised the whole before writing into our English books where we included lots of descriptive language and a variety of punctuation.

We have continued to work on multiplication and division using our knowledge of 2, 5 and 10 times table to solve multiplication problems and identify related division facts.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Great Fire of London topic. We have  created a story map to retell the events of the fire, designed and created our own 3D Pudding Lane, created artwork using ICT and artwork using paints and black card to create a silhouette picture AND we demonstrated our understanding through a comprehension booklet.

November and December have been very busy so we have chosen our favourite things that happened.

We had a visit from a T-Rex! The dinosaur came into the hall and surprised us all….it even tried to gobble April up! We realised this was a mummy T-Rex coming to look for her egg which we had found in the nature garden the day before!

We also really enjoyed our open afternoon when an adult from our family came in   to help us with Remembrance Day activities.

We also had our class trip to visit Tim Peake’s spacecraft at Shildon Railway museum. We couldn’t believe how small the spacecraft actually is. We got to stand inside Tim Peake’s spacesuit….it was a brilliant day!

October has been a very exciting month for us in Year2. October has been a very exciting month for us in Year2.

We celebrated Harvest Festival and we were thrilled with the amount of donations that were brought into school to share in our local community.

The Halloween disco was one of our favourite events in October when we got to dress up in our scary outfits and frighten the teachers when we came for the disco!

The thing we are most proud of in October is the work we have completed in English. We created our own story maps and memorised it before writing into our English books where we included lots of descriptive language and a variety of punctuation.

Year 2 – September Blog

In Year 2 we are so happy to be back in school after our six weeks holidays and we are excited to learn lots of new things.

So far we have been learning about place value of two digit numbers and we have also started to order and compare numbers up to 100.

In English, we have been learning new stories by creating story maps and using these maps to re-write the story in our own words. Our favourite so far is The Magic Porridge Pot.

During our P.E lessons we have been learning how to use the gym safely and understanding what muscles each machine works.

We hope you have enjoyed our blog. Please make sure to come back and read our October blog next month.
