Welcome to Two Year Old Provision - Miss Eltringham

Hello again and welcome!

This month we have been very busy celebrating Easter as well as continuing our Spring topic. Take a look at some of our favourite activities….

Easter celebrations

We participated in a variety of Easter themed activities during the last week of term. We made Easter cards and pictures, and then the Easter Bunny left us a letter telling us about eggs he had hidden in our outdoor area for us to find!

Continuing our Spring topic, we have been busy planting Sunflower seeds and making egg and cress sandwiches with cress that we had grown ourselves!

Thank you for reading, please come back soon!

Hello again and welcome!

What a busy month it has been in our two year old provision! The children have had great fun participating in both World Book Day and Shrove Tuesday celebrations. We have also started to learn about the changes in the environment now that Spring has arrived.

World Book Day

Children and staff made a fantastic effort to dress up as their favourite character. We made delicious Gingerbread Men biscuits and shared lots and lots of stories all day…..

Shrove Tuesday

The children loved getting involved in making pancakes, helping to weigh out ingredients and stir the mixture. They watched as Miss Eltringham and Miss Sayers prepared the pancakes and then chose which topping they would like….

Spring has arrived!

Thankfully the very cold weather has left us and we are beginning to see signs of Spring. We recently visited the Nature Garden to see if we could see any changes in the environment. The children spotted lots of flowers and buds on the trees beginning to grow. They then photographed them using the iPad….

Welcome to our first blog of 2017!

We hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, it seems like so long ago now!  Once again I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new children and parents to the two year old provision. They have all settled so well and are a pleasure to have in our setting.

Nature Garden visit

We are so fortunate at South Hylton Primary School to have a large Nature Garden on our premises. Our children thoroughly enjoy putting on waterproofs and wellies and exploring the natural environment. Our children recently visited the garden to collect sticks of different shapes and sizes to use back in nursery for an activity. Whilst there the children had great fun climbing the trees and using their sticks as musical instruments on different surfaces.

Once back in nursery the children used their sticks to paint pictures with.  This was developing their gross motor skills...

NSPCC Number Day

On Friday 3rd February the school took part in NSPCC Number Day. This was a fundraising event designed to raise money for the NSPCC as well as to develop our children’s mathematical skills. The Two Year Old Provision took on the challenge to sort objects into different categories. This involved sorting animals into their different types, sorting play dough into different shapes and sorting dinosaurs into their different colours. Have a look at some of our photographs.....

Hello again and welcome to our last blog of 2016!

Christmas is always a very busy time of year at South Hylton Primary School and this year has been no different! Have a look to see what we have been up to....

Theatre Visit

On Wednesday 7th December all of the children in our Early Years Foundation Stage visited The Customs House in South Shields to see a performance of ‘Santa’s Naughty Elf and the Frozen Christmas’. What a great time we had! Our children were fantastic throughout the performance, singing and dancing and joining in when asked by Elfluent! Santa Claus then arrived and gave the children an extra special Elf gift.

Christmas activities

Our children have been extremely busy in school, being involved in all sorts of Christmas activities. Look out for some surprises going home this week!!

A little Bird Told Me

We hope you enjoyed our Christmas Performance as much as the staff and children did. It was lovely to see you all there to support your children; we hope you are as proud of them as we are! Well done everyone!

We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
